Bullies are people that continuously and intentionally go out of their way to make you feel bad.
They are also people who just keep making you feel stink.
Being bullied is one thing but being bullied for doing something you are passionate about takes on its own kind of hurt.
Here are five ways to deal with bullies:
1) Learn how to block people and delete comments on social media.
Some comments may be expressing peoples views on a certain subject which is okay. But when comments are persistent and they are attacking you and making you upset, it is time to remove the comment and block the person making you feel this way. You are strong and you deserve better.
2) Take time away from the people bullying you and away from social media to relax.
Having time to yourself where you are able to clear your thoughts and allow positive energy into your day will do you the world of good and remind you why you are doing what you love.
3) Understand that the bully is hurting. They are showing their pain through bullying. This is not okay.
Bullies bully because that is how they have been shown to behave. Maybe they are being bullied at home, maybe they are insecure about themselves and this is how they show power. Whatever the reason, it is not okay to bully. You are strong, strong enough to feel happy within yourself without tearing others down.
4) Confide in someone you trust.
Talking to someone about what is going can feel like a weight lifted off your shoulders. It is always helpful to know there is someone on your side so when the going gets tough they can be a shoulder to lean on or a moral compass.
5) Join a writing community online to receive a lot of support.
Writing groups on Facebook especially are full of writers and aspiring writers who want to uplift other writers. If you are being bullied for being a writer, an online writing group might just be the way to lift your spirits and find your tribe.
